Norwegian oil and gas group StatoilHydro has come up dry in a wildcat well sunk on Production Licence (PL) 128 in the North Sea.
The well, 6608/11-6, was targeting oil in middle and lower Jurassic sediments about 15 kilometres north-east of the Norne field. The bore was drilled to 1828 metres in water depth of 379 metres by the semi-submersible rig Ocean Vanguard. The well will be plugged and abandoned and the rig will move to spud the wildcat 34/7-33 on PL 089, which is also operated by StatoilHydro.
