New GL Ship Manager 2.0 facilitates management processes and streamlines vessel operations

Rostock/Hamburg- The updated software tool GL Ship Manager 2.0 improves the efficiency of shipping operations and ensures compliance with industry requirements as well as international regulations.

Simplifying and automating the administrative workload for a ship is the overarching goal of GL Ship Manager 2.0. Finale of the Trophée Bailli de Suffren returns to Grand Harbour Marina

Camper & Nicholsons Grand Harbour Marina will once again play host to the finale of the seventh annual Trophée Bailli de Suffren; a 580 mile, 12 day offshore race from St Tropez to Malta reserved exclusively for classic yachts.

Organised by the Marenostrum Racing Club and the Société Nautique of St Tropez, the race is recognized as one of the most beautiful in the Mediterranean. The Trophée Bailli de Suffren, which boasts Brigitte Bardot as its patron, departed from St Tropez on 27th June – and will finish in La Valetta, Malta, on 7th July. Named after Pierre André de Suffren, Admiral of the French Navy and the Maltese Ambassador at Versailles, the race is a truly unique event celebrating the grandeur of traditional sailing yachts. The magnificent vessels will cross the finish line on 7th July as they enter Grand Harbour Marina in La Valetta, Malta, where they will be moored for three days in the stunning medieval harbour before finally departing home. During their stay crews will enjoy cocktails and a gala dinner at the French Embassy – an award ceremony will also be held at the Royal Malta Yacht Club. Ben Stuart, General Manager for Grand Harbour Marina, said: “There are very few events of this nature which feature boats of such distinguished charm. Grand Harbour is the ideal location for the race to come to an end and we would encourage people to visit the marina and see these stunning vessels for themselves. “The historic surroundings of the marina will provide the perfect backdrop to one of the most visually stunning events in the racing calendar.”

Subsea 7 announces major contract in Africa

Subsea 7 has been awarded its largest contract to date in Africa.
The contract is a framework agreement with call-off services in support of a major development program in offshore West Africa. Subsea 7 has signed the first call-off contract under the frame agreement with an estimated value of US$460 million. The services will primarily be performed using Subsea 7's new build flexible pipe lay and construction vessel, the ‘Seven Seas'. Subsea 7 is a global offshore company with operations supported out of the North Sea, Africa, Brazil, North and Central America and Asia.

Two 1,740TEU vessels delivered to Samudera

Samudera Shipping Line, based in Indonesia, has recently received the 1,740TEU ‘Sinar Sumba’ from a shipyard in Guangzhou, China, before its maiden deployment in Hong Kong in its new Korea-China-Malaysia service this month.

The US$83 million ‘Sinar Sumba’ was put into service with another vessel and will help the shipping group to attain its long-term strategy of providing flexibility in fleet deployment and stability in overall vessel operating costs, said a company statement. The delivery of the second of the two 1,740TEU ships is expected towards the end of the year.
