Xilas acquires newbuilding contracts

Greek shipowner Ioannis Xilas concluded the acquisition of a duo of newbuilding contracts from Danish group Clipper.

Both vessels are currently being built by Tsuji Heavy Industries at its Jiangsu Shipyard in China. They are trader-type vessels each with a carrying capacity of 30,000-dwt. Xilas Group is expected to take delivery of the vessels during 2009-2010. Clipper Upon has ordered a total of 24 ships, which will be transferred to a shipping pool, under the name Clipeer Trader Pool, together with the existing 12 vessels that the group controls.
