USA: Aker Philadelphia Shipyard has launched its sixth product tanker in a series of twelve representing the mid-point of the series.
When completed, the 183-metre vessel will be sold to American Shipping Company and bareboat chartered to OSG America. On the morning November 5, the vessel was floated off its blocks in the 335-metre building dock and transferred by tugboats to the outfitting dock, where testing and commissioning of the systems and onboard work will continue. Preparations for the vessel to undergo sea trials will also be carried out prior to the final delivery in the first quarter of 2009.
